About
Welcome to my creative corner! I am deeply passionate about writing and crafting imaginative worlds where readers can immerse themselves and embark on unforgettable adventures. Every story I write is woven with rich, memorable characters, inviting readers of all ages to journey alongside them.
With a career dedicated to working with children, culminating in my role as a primary school headteacher, I have witnessed first-hand the transformative power of children’s literacy and the joy that reading brings. My picture books are designed to captivate young minds, drawing them into enchanting tales of friendship, kindness, and adventure. Each story champions positivity, upholds strong moral values, and sparks creativity in young readers.
Nestled in the tranquil heart of rural Perthshire, I draw inspiration from the breathtaking landscapes that surround me. Accompanied by my loyal writing partners, Sherlock Bones and Watson, I spend countless hours exploring winding paths, cascading waterfalls, and peaceful lochs. The ever-changing beauty of Perthshire provides endless inspiration for my work, ensuring that every page turned offers a glimpse of wonder.
Thank you for visiting—I hope my stories inspire imagination, kindness, and a lifelong love of reading.
Author Visits and Events
There’s nothing I enjoy more than visiting schools, libraries, and bookshops to share the joy of stories and ignite the imaginations of young readers and writers.
Drawing on my experience in primary education and literacy, I tailor each visit to suit the needs and interests of children from nursery to Primary 7. My goal is always to leave students inspired and brimming with creative ideas.
My school events typically feature a lively reading from one of my picture books, followed by an interactive Q&A session exploring the world of writing, illustration, publishing, and the life of an author. I also offer creative writing workshops that focus on building vibrant characters—complete with a visual presentation and fun, hands-on activities. Each child will receive a bookmark and activity sheet to take home, and books are available for purchase at a special event rate, with the option for a personalised, signed copy.
Visits can be customised as a single session or an entire day to fit your school’s timetable, and I strive to keep travel affordable—often included, with a small charge for longer journeys.
Library and bookshop events are equally enchanting, often featuring activities and colouring sheets, and a dose of story time magic. Each year, I also offer a select number of charitable library visits to give back to the community.
If you would like to invite me for an event, please get in touch via the contact page—I look forward to inspiring your children and sharing the magic of stories together!
Reviews
A deeply compelling and personal story about recovery
Frank, easy to read, well paced. If you ever wanted articulate insight into a patients perspective of what it is really like to be on the brink of the end in intensive care, and then crawling your way back to health through rehab, then this is a fantastic choice. IMHO this should be on the reading list of anyone who works in or is associated with intensive care or rehab.
Inspirational
Inspirational account about one man’s fight against and recovery from COVID-19 and the people who helped him on his journey. No-one has been unaffected by COVID, everyone should read this book.
Absolutely Gripping!
Amazing read from first page to last.
Real Life of the Pandemic
Such a difficult read for anyone who lost a loved one during the pandemic but an inspiring story of survival and support.
